Stevenage is a modern ‘new town’ originally developed for housing Londoners after the Second World War and now boasts a population exceeding 80,000 and is now a lively town offering something for everyone.
Originally as a Saxon Village, over the centuries Stevenage has developed into a busy market town with many local farmers selling their produce in what is now known as the “High Street” and is where the Putterills office stands today.
The ‘New Town’ now offers a busy shopping centre, covered market place, countless leisure facilities including a modern theatre and the Stevenage Valley Park which is set in the heart of the town with several man-made lakes, open green areas, boating facilities, tea shop, water attraction and an activity park for young children.
